Smorgasbord Food Attendant - Part-time Available

Position Summary

The Miller's Smorgasbord Food Attendant is responsible for ensuring replacement of food stations on the buffet and cleanliness of the buffet line. The Smorgasbord Attendant is also responsible for having knowledge of all buffet offerings to be able to engage with guests and make appropriate item suggestions.We have openings for part-time positions for this Smorgasbord Food Attendant position with a schedule that can accommodate students, retirees and those looking for additional income.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Rotating food by using the oldest first as the station is replenished
  • Maintaining clean and sanitary environment with knowledge of proper food handling, storage, and sanitation.
  • Assist co-workers in other stations as needed
  • Communicating effectively with kitchen team when more food needs to be cooked
  • Be aware of guests’ needs; assist in providing a pleasant dining experience.
  • Cleaning carpet around buffet stations to maintain a clean and safe working environment for guests and coworkers at all times.
  • Making sure all food items are stored properly according to health department regulations.
  • Making sure all working areas and equipment are properly cleaned and sanitized.
  • Interacting with guests and providing them with a warm greeting and a positive parting remark showing gratitude for their business as appropriate.
  • Ensure all cooking and electrical equipment is turned off at the end of the shift.
  • Attending staff meetings, morning meetings and other meetings as requested.
  • Performing all other duties as requested.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Physical stamina to lift and carry heavy items (trays, tubs, etc.)
  • Weekends and evenings
  • Ability to follow safety protocols
  • High energy and stamina are required
  • Ability to stay calm and work efficiently under pressure
  • Ability to prioritize job duties and manage time effectively
  • Strong verbal communication skills required
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required
  • Excellent customer service to treat patrons like family
  • Ability to read menus, safety documents, and other work-related documents
 

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to raw meat, moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, hazardous materials, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
